# Follow the activity

> Read the page of a running pentest: the four phases, the duration and latest end time, the test plan, the surfaces tested, the last activity, cancelling and resuming.

## What the pentest page shows

During the run, the **Pentest progress** page refreshes every 15 seconds and shows:

| Element | Content |
|---|---|
| Phases | Preparation, Scope analysis, Testing, Report writing. They only move forward; the current phase is detailed in one sentence. |
| Right now | The current activity: preparing the environment, reading the scope, active tests, planning, coordinating parallel checks, documenting, wrapping up. |
| Test plan | The number of checks completed out of the total, and those in progress. The plan grows during the pentest: the total may increase. |
| Duration and end | The elapsed time and the time by which the tests end at the latest. |
| Surfaces tested | The surfaces already handled and the most recent ones. |
| Last activity | The time elapsed since the last recorded activity. |

This summary is all the customer follow-up receives. The model used, the consumption and the execution traces stay internal to SpectrAI.

## No activity for a while

Some checks are long. When no activity has been recorded for several minutes, the page says so. If nothing changes before the latest end time, the pentest is closed automatically and its verified results are published.

## Notifications

You are notified in the application and, according to your preferences, by e-mail when the report is published or when the pentest is interrupted. The pentest page also announces the publication as soon as it happens. See [Notifications](https://docs.spectr-ai.eu/en/compte-et-securite/notifications).

## Cancelling

You can cancel a running pentest. If it had not yet effectively started, the evaluation is returned. If it had started, it is consumed.

## Resuming

When an attempt is interrupted for an eligible cause (for example a platform incident or a relay loss), the page offers **Resume the pentest**. The resume creates a new attempt on the same mission, without deducting a new evaluation. If no resume is possible and no report has been published, the evaluation is returned.

Only the results of the last successful, complete and consistent attempt are shown to you: an interrupted attempt publishes nothing.

## Duration and limits

The duration depends on the application. Consumption and duration limits are managed by SpectrAI; they are internal guardrails, not a promise of exhaustive coverage. Pentests run one after the other: a queued pentest shows its waiting phase.

## After the end

At the end of the attempt, the evidence, scope and consistency checks run, then the report is published automatically, even without any finding. See [The report](https://docs.spectr-ai.eu/en/resultats/rapport).
